“The authors demonstrate that respecting children’s rights and safeguarding them from exposure to violence can shift the balance between risk and protective factors which will in turn reduce the incidence and severity of childhood violence. Given the recent case of ‘Baby P’, this is timely and essential reading for health and social professionals working in child health and protection as well as policy makers.”—Ruth Davies, senior lecturer, Child Health, School of Health Science, Swansea University, Paediatric Nursing, May 2009
