Executive Director of Children’s Rights Center attends meeting at UN
Dr Covell was invited to attend a Ministerial Breakfast Meeting, September 25th 2009, the UN in New York. The primary purpose of the meeting was to highlight the mandate of the Special Representative on Violence Against Children to the UN Secretary- General, Marta Santos-Pais who was appointed in May 2009. The meeting was co-hosted by the permanent Mission of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the United States of America and the Federative Republic of Brazil. Among the speakers were Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Minster of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Maxime Verhagen. For more information please click centre for details.

Mandate
The mandate of the CBU Children’s Rights Centre is to:
- conduct research on children’s rights and children’s issues
- further public knowledge and education about children’s rights
- monitor the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in Canada
- provide a resource centre for students conducting research in children’s rights through courses, training and employment, and directs supervision of student research projects
