- Honours Students 2007-2008
Seven keen and curious students are pursuing their honours degrees this year. From mummichogs to crabs to nestling grackles to farm animals we will hear some fascinating stories and new ideas as they learn from their organisms.
- CBU Herbarium joins cross-Canada digitization initiative
About 5,000 plant specimens collected on Cape Breton Island are carefully preserved, catalogued and sit row upon row in tall herbarium cabinets. Until now, they have been freely available to students of Cape Breton natural history, but only to those able to visit in person. By this time next year, anyone will be able to access the data and a high quality scan of the specimen.

- Success Story: Biologist receives Commonwealth Scholarship
A top student has received one of the country’s most prestigious honours, the Commonwealth Scholarship. This is but another shining example of Cape Breton University students being recognized by prestigious federal agencies for their excellent academics, research potential, communication and leadership abilities.
- CBU Nature Trail gets an upgrade
The CBU trails committee has been given a $2000.00 grant from the ‘Central Cape Breton Health Board’ to further upgrade our nature trail.

- BioKids Speaker Series: Great Experience for Students and Pre-schoolers at CBU!
A unique speaker series held at the CBU Early Childhood Center provides Biology students with valuable public speaking experience and the opportunity to inspire young minds.
